About
DruML is a Southern California-based company engineering the next generation of MIDI instruments — built from the ground up around AI, and using the latest advancements in real-time signal processing.
Founded in 2024 by a team with roots in robotics and machine learning, DruML was born out of frustration with the state of MIDI sensor technology. Threshold-based strike detection and single-zone piezo setups have been the industry standard for decades — and the ceiling on expressiveness shows. We're replacing that paradigm with per-component intelligence: each instrument runs its own signal processing pipeline, classifying strike characteristics like position, velocity, and articulation directly at the source before a single MIDI byte leaves the device.
By applying cutting-edge AI and waveform analysis at the hardware level, DruML-powered instruments resolve features that traditional peak detection simply cannot — rimshots, ghost notes, edge hits, and dynamic gradients all become first-class signals. Because the core technology is hardware-agnostic, it can take virtually any physical form — pads, cymbals, triggers, and beyond. We're just getting started.
Each unit is a USB class-compliant device, meaning firmware updates require no drivers, no installers, and no specialized knowledge — just a browser and a USB cable. No external module. No proprietary ecosystem. Just a USB hub, your DAW, and a VST.
