The Vision
While electronic drums have evolved consistently since their inception, recent advancements have largely centered on external modules or hybrid approaches — with little focus on fundamental sensor and signal processing breakthroughs. DruML aims to change that, pushing MIDI instruments into a new era by applying the latest advancements in AI and real-time waveform analysis directly at the hardware level.
Our mission is to leverage modern commodity hardware, advanced sensors, and cutting-edge machine learning to unlock levels of expressiveness and realism that traditional MIDI instruments have never achieved. By processing signals intelligently at the source, we can capture nuance that conventional threshold-based detection simply cannot.
We envision a future where each drum component functions as a self-contained intelligent unit, complete with its own neurons, computing power, and USB output. This approach requires only a USB hub and a VST drum plugin — placing the intelligence inside the instrument itself, not in an external module.
With our first product, the S1 14" digital snare, we aim to demonstrate what becomes possible when you stop operating incrementally and try something fundamentally different.
