Despite the striking similarity, this is not in fact a deep sea creature. This is the nervous system for a DruML unit, and is the bare minimum setup required to register a device with the DruML fleet.
This is for OEMs and adventurers. If you don't know exactly what you're doing, please. consider a pre-built drum.
Choosing a touch sensor:
Smaller electrodes are more directional and less susceptible to noise. If you dont need the large palm detection area (e.g. for a rack tom/etc) you may enjoy the precision of the smaller sensor.
The larger electrode comes standard in the S1 snare. The sensor area is nearly doubled, but it is more susceptible to environmental noise when sensitivity is cranked.
Included:
- DruML S1 Board
- 6x 35mm Piezos (center, rim, up to 4 outer)
Wiring is simple:
You'll see labels next to each piezo input. A1 and A2 each have their own redundant JST plugs, as we use this to give an analog pass-through (direct access to the piezos). You don't need to use it if you don't want.
We use JST-PH for all plugs as they are ubiquitous and do not fall out from vibration.
4-piezo:
- A1 -> Center Sensor
- A2 -> Rim Sensor
- B1 -> Outer 1
- B2 -> Outer 2
- A3 -> Outer 3

3-piezo:
- A1 -> Center Sensor
- A2 -> Rim Sensor
- B1 -> Outer 1

2-piezo:
- A1 -> Center Sensor
- A2 -> Rim Sensor
Note: The touch sensor is a 4-pin JST-PH and there's only one way to plug it in.
